Job summary

Herr Foods Inc. in Jackson, OH is hiring a 2nd Shift Process Operator to join the Production team. This full-time role runs Monday-Thursday, 3:30pm-3:30am, with potential overtime to meet business needs.

You will operate fryers, mixers, and processing equipment, perform changeovers, maintain ERP records, and ensure accurate production data. Candidates should have a good mechanical aptitude, be able to lift 50 pounds, and pass background and drug screening.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Operate potato chip fryers, dough mixers, and snack processing equipment.
• Perform changeovers and setup of mixing, cooking, and processing equipment.
• Clean machine parts, dispose of waste, and monitor tank levels.
• Record daily production data: batch counts, start/stop times, oil readings.
• Maintain Urschel slicer heads for quality and consistent slices.
• Enter and track production data in the ERP system.
• Monitor inventory and coordinate material replenishment.

Key Responsibilities

YOUR DAY-TO-DAY:

• Operate potato chip fryers, dough mixers, and snack food processing equipment.
• Responsible for change over and set up of the mixing, cooking, and processing equipment.
• Cleaning machine parts after changeovers, discarding trash/waste, and monitoring tank levels as well as cleaning seasoning trays, floors, and ovens in the processing area.
• Records daily machine and process information such as batch counts, start & stop times, oil meter readings, waste recordings, and pounds of flour.
• Changes and maintains Urschel slicer heads to maintain quality and consistent slices.
• Ensure that manufacturing data is accurately entered and tracked in the ERP system, including production orders, materials, and finished goods.
• Update and maintain ERP records to reflect real-time data, including production status, material usage, and equipment maintenance.
• Enter production and manufacturing data into the ERP system, including raw material consumption, machine usage, labor hours, and quality control data.
• Track inventory levels in real-time and coordinate with the necessary teams to ensure timely material replenishment.
• Other ERP responsibilities and other duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

WHAT YOU NEED TO GET STARTED:

• Must complete a background and pre-employment drug screen. As well as a preplacement screening which tests the ability to perform the physical requirements of the position.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• A good mechanical skill-related background is preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
• Ability to work with latex gloves, airborne seasoning, cardboard dust, cleaning solutions, and hot water.
• Ability to work in a noisy and fast-paced environment where you are regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, and moving parts.
• Good Balance on slippery surfaces.
• Must be able to lift at least 21 pounds.
