Job summary

Bozzuto's Inc. in Cheshire, CT is seeking a 2nd Shift Preventative Maintenance Technician to keep material handling equipment running safely. You will perform inspections, lubrication, and component replacements, document repairs, and ensure compliance with OSHA and company policies.

Qualifications

  • Preferred: One (1) year of technical experience – Automotive or Industrial Equipment
  • Preferred: MHE experience (Electric pallet jacks such as center riders or long forks; forklifts)
  • Own and maintain up-to-date tools of the trade

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine inspections of equipment to identify issues and wear.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance including lubrication, cleaning, adjustments and part replacements.
  • Replace batteries in MHE equipment using power tools.
  • Operate material handling equipment safely during maintenance.
  • Conduct safety inspections per OSHA and company policies.
  • Maintain quality and prevent damage to products during shift.
  • Perform mechanical repairs on electric forklifts and pallet jacks.
  • Complete inspection forms and documentation accurately and timely.
  • Perform basic soldering and welding as needed.
  • Use air-powered tools when required.
  • Support a clean, safe warehouse environment.
  • Work varying shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

2nd Shift Preventative Maintenance Technician
Job Description

Position Overview:

As a Preventative Maintenance Technician you will be responsible for the ensuring the continued functionality and longevity of the Material Handling Equipment (MHE). You will be responsible for ensuring all repairs are documented and aligned with OSHA – state and federal policies as well as company policies to drive a safe working environment and culture.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conducting routine inspections of equipment to identify potential issues or signs of wear and tear; evaluating the condition of the components to determine the need for maintenance or repair
  • Performing scheduled preventative maintenance tasks included but not limited to lubrications, cleaning, adjustments and component replacements to prevent breakdowns and prolong equipment lifespan
  • Replacing the batteries in MHE equipment using electric power tools and hand tools
  • Use material handling equipment (center riders, long-forks, forklifts etc.) in a safe manner moving MHE to and from maintenance shop for repairs with proper certifications from company procedures and safety standards
  • Performing safety inspections in accordance with OSHA and company policies on all equipment prior to being released back to the floor for use
  • Maintaining quality standards of product throughout shift – working in a damage free manner
  • Performing a variety of mechanical repairs on electric forklifts and electric pallet jacks
  • Completing all necessary paperwork, equipment inspection forms and other documents accurately and timely
  • Performing basic soldering and welding skills
  • Using air powered equipment when necessary
  • Assist in cleaning and maintaining a safe working environment in the warehouse
  • Flexibility to work various or additional shifts, as needed including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership
  • Warehouse Grocery – approx. 50F – 90F
  • Warehouse Perishable – approx. 26F - 60F
  • Warehouse Freezer – approx. 0F - -20F

Schedule:

  • Sunday-Thursday 2 PM- 10:30 PM

Rate:

  • $21-$22/hour

Experience:

  • Preferred: One (1) year of technical experience – Automotive or Industrial Equipment

Skills:

  • Physical abilities : May be required to lift up to 80-85lbs.; standing, bending, lifting, and twisting for up to 90% of your shift; frequently lifting product from various heights including floor level to over your head; Ability to stand or walk at least 10 hours daily; working in various temperature-controlled environments; the ability to operate required material handling equipment – getting on and off equipment throughout shift
  • Strong communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with peers and leaders daily
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to fulfill customer orders in a timely manner; ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Working in a team-based environment: Working independently and as a team player to ensure our customers are receiving orders timely and with the highest quality
  • Quality: Maintain integrity and high standards of product handling from all perspectives
  • Safety Culture: Maintain and drive safety policies; drive for accountability of safe practices throughout the shift
