Job summary

Clow Valve Company in Oskaloosa, IA, is seeking a 2nd shift machinist to operate mills and lathes, plan machining from blueprints, and ensure quality. The role runs Monday to Thursday, 3pm to 1am, with starting wage $28.24 per hour and a qualified wage of $28.78 per hour.

Health insurance is available after 60 days. Responsibilities include setting up tooling, loading stock, verifying measurements, and maintaining safety and documentation.

Qualifications

• 2nd shift availability: Mon-Thu 3pm-1am.
• Ability to read blueprints and tolerances.
• Ability to measure parts with measurement tools.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, and machining parameters.
• Completes tooling setup for machine.
• Complete any required fixture set-up.
• Programs mills and lathes by entering instructions.
• Load stock into machine (may require use of overhead lifting devices).
• Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample work pieces; adhering to standards.
• Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
• Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
• Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.
• General cleanup of work area.
• Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
