Job summary

Kelly Engineering in New Baltimore, MI is seeking an experienced Plastics Maintenance Technician for a contract-to-permanent opportunity at a growing automotive plastics manufacturer. The role supports plastic injection-molding machines, robotics, and related equipment on a 2nd shift (2:45pm–11:15pm).

You will diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, and pneumatic systems, read schematics, perform preventive maintenance, and document work.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years of industrial maintenance experience or equivalent.
• Maintenance experience in plastics manufacturing or injection molding.
• Experience with injection-molding machines, auxiliary systems, secondary automation, FANUC or Ranger robots, thermolators, sensors, cameras and pneumatic valves.
• Strong electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting, including reading schematics.
• Hands-on mechanical repair and pneumatic systems knowledge.
• Ability to diagnose problems to the failed component and determine repairs.
• Strong judgment, initiative, organization, communication and ownership.
• Personal toolbox with a broad selection of maintenance hand tools.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, and basic pneumatic issues affecting production and equipment.
• Read and interpret electrical/hydraulic prints, schematics, work orders, and equipment specs.
• Troubleshoot equipment failures to component level and complete repairs.
• Support plastic injection-molding machines, material conveyors, dryers, pumps and related equipment.
• Troubleshoot and adjust automation equipment, sensors, cameras, and robots.
• Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs; reassemble equipment as needed.
• Document work and communicate status and follow-up actions.
• Assist with minor welding, carpentry, and facility repairs.
• Follow safety procedures including lockout/tagout and forklift/ crane rules.
