Job summary

JAM Best One Tire and Service in Toledo, Ohio seeks a 2nd Shift Plant Leader to guide team members across the retread process, driving safety, quality, and efficiency. The role supports the Plant Leader in daily operations, staffing, and workflow, ensuring accurate BASys data and proper material handling.

The ideal candidate will coach staff and maintain a high-performance environment. The position offers competitive pay up to $23/hr, a monthly bonus, full benefits, PTO, holiday pay, and on-site

Qualifications

• 1 year of leadership experience in manufacturing/production.
• Retreading processes and Bandag systems knowledge preferred.
• Able to coach, develop, and hold others accountable for performance.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
• Able to lift 50 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Plant Leader with daily operations, production goals, staffing, and workflow.
• Work across all retread stations to ensure smooth plant operations during the shift.
• Identify and correct tire issues, including mislabels and barcode errors.
• Help train and develop plant employees while maintaining a productive work environment.
• Maintain accurate information in BASys and ensure proper storage of tires and products.
• Support safe, professional workplace by following safety procedures and PPE.

Position Overview

This position supports the Plant Leader by leading team members throughout the retread manufacturing plant, driving performance in safety, quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement. This hands‑on role works directly across all retread technician stations, ensuring smooth, consistent plant operations during the assigned shift.

• Assist the Plant Leader with daily plant operations, production goals, staffing needs, and overall workflow.
• Work throughout the retread process as needed, including casing inspection, buffing, repairs, building, curing, and final inspection.
• Identify and correct tire issues, including wrong treads, mislabeled tires, barcode errors, incorrect transfers, and missing casings.
• Help train and develop plant employees while reinforcing performance expectations and maintaining a productive work environment.
• Maintain accurate information in BASys and ensure tires and products are properly organized and stored.
• Support a safe and professional workplace by following safety procedures, using proper PPE, communicating effectively, and filling in for leadership when needed.

Requirements:

• Preferred 1 year of leadership experience in a manufacturing or production environment, preferably in tire or automotive industry.
• Strong knowledge of retreading processes and Bandag systems preferred.
• Must be able to coach, develop, and hold others accountable for performance.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
• Able to lift 50 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally
• Must be able to stand, kneel and crawl while operating equipment and tools
• Must also be at least 18 years old
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
