Job summary

Charter Casting is hiring for a Metal Handler on 2nd Shift (3pm-11:30pm) at 1800 W Lake Shore Dr, Woodstock, IL. The role starts at $25.75/hr (base $24.25 + $1.50 shift premium) with weekly pay, full benefits, tuition/bonuses, and 401(k) with match.

This position emphasizes safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement within a family-owned manufacturing environment. Prior forklift experience is a plus; HS diploma or GED is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Ability to read instructions and perform basic math.
• Ability to read thermometers and record data.

Responsibilities

• Transport molten iron via forklift or by hand between holding vessels and bar lines.
• Sample molten iron for temperature and composition within tolerances.
• Support tapping, slagging, and chipping operations.
• Maintain production schedules and communicate progress to shifts.
• Add alloys to molten iron per work order instructions.
• Keep work area clean and safe; follow PPE guidelines.
