Job summary

Riverview Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician for 2nd shift (10-hour days) to follow lab policies from preanalytic to postanalytic stages. You will handle specimen integrity, perform analytic tests, monitor QC, and maintain instruments, reporting results in a timely manner.

You will collaborate with nursing and physician office staff, ensure proper documentation in LIS, and participate in proficiency testing while maintaining safety and supply controls.

Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor of Science in a chemical, physical or biological science and at least one year full-time laboratory training or experience
• Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology from an accredited college or university
• Meets CLIA Testing Personnel requirements within six months of hire

Responsibilities

• Communicate with customers professionally and coordinate with lab staff to ensure accurate test ordering and timely results
• Evaluate specimen adequacy and document specimen integrity in LIS
• Perform analytic tests according to SOPs
• Adhere to quality control policies and document QC activities
• Perform instrument maintenance and document maintenance
• Monitor test performance and document corrective actions
• Recognize critical test results and notify clinicians
• Maintain supply inventory and follow safety policies
• Perform proficiency testing as required
• Perform other duties as assigned
