Job summary

Howmet Aerospace is seeking a 2nd Shift Mechanical Technician at Howmet Whitehall Casting in Whitehall, Michigan. The role supports maintenance staff by assisting Facility Engineers with capital projects, installing or modifying plant equipment, procuring parts, updating schematics, and providing technical assistance.

Primary duties include creating preventative maintenance procedures and promoting a continuous improvement culture.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of five (5) years of hands-on experience in a mechanical or maintenance-focused environment.
• Associates degree in a technical discipline or completion of a registered apprenticeship program (preferred).
• Experience in maintenance, construction, HVAC, equipment installation, fabrication and welding, hydraulics and pneumatics, or plumbing and piping systems (preferred).
• Good mechanical aptitude and blueprint reading capabilities.
• Must be energetic and a self-starter, capable of promoting and implementing change.

Responsibilities

• Assist Facility Engineers with completion of capital projects.
• Install, move, or modify plant equipment.
• Procurement of repair parts, spare parts, or raw materials as needed.
• Update or create new schematics and drawings.
• Provide technical assistance to maintenance staff for repairs and modifications.
• Create and implement preventative maintenance and repair procedures.
