Job summary

Taher is seeking a Mechanical/Facilities Technician to oversee maintenance, reliability, and operational readiness of equipment and facilities across Taher's locations. This hands-on role blends mechanical troubleshooting with facilities oversight, vendor coordination, and preventive maintenance planning.

Based in Plymouth, MN, the position supports production uptime and facility needs, travels locally between site locations as needed, and reports to the Plant Manager.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on maintenance, mechanical repair, or facilities management experience in a manufacturing or food production environment.
• Strong troubleshooting ability with mechanical systems; electrical/mechatronics exposure preferred (no certification required).
• Experience coordinating maintenance vendors and service providers.
• Ability to travel locally as needed and lift 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair production lines, metal detectors, pallet wrappers, and other food manufacturing equipment.

Reports To: Plant Manager

Position Summary

The Mechanical/Facilities Technician is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, reliability, and operational readiness of all equipment and facilities across Taher's facilities and multiple locations. This role blends hands‑on mechanical troubleshooting with facilities oversight, vendor coordination, and preventive maintenance planning. The ideal candidate is a technically savvy "jack of all trades" who can support both production line uptime and general facility needs.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment & Mechanical Support

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and perform minor repairs on production lines, metal detectors, pallet wrappers, and other food manufacturing equipment.
• Partner with contracted maintenance vendors; coordinate service calls, quotes, and repairs.
• Support implementation of new equipment, upgrades, and layout changes.

Preventive Maintenance & Reliability

• Develop and maintain PM schedules for all production and facilities equipment.
• Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities for improved uptime and reliability.

Facilities Maintenance

• Perform general building maintenance (light repairs, lighting, basic plumbing, fixture replacement, etc.).
• Coordinate external vendors for specialized building repairs, HVAC, electrical, and other trades.
• Ensure facility is safe, compliant, and operationally efficient.

Cross-Location Support

• Ability to travel locally between Plymouth manufacturing, the bakery, and corporate as needed.
• Provide support to bakery operations with troubleshooting or facility needs when workload allows.

Documentation & Compliance

• Maintain accurate maintenance logs, PM records, and vendor documentation.
• Support food safety, OSHA compliance, and plant audit readiness.
