Job summary

Vertiv is seeking a Mechanical Fitter to assemble mechanical components from intake to shipment in our Pelzer, SC manufacturing facility. The role emphasizes safety, tool use, and adherence to production standards in a fast-paced plant environment.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble mechanical components from intake to shipment using hand tools, torque wrenches, and other equipment.
  • Read blueprints and technical drawings to guide assembly.
  • Transport components with forklifts and material handling equipment within the facility.
  • Troubleshoot mechanically and document corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with team to meet production targets and resolve challenges.
  • Assist with basic maintenance and support engineering or electrical teams as needed.
  • Maintain accurate production records of parts and quantities.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Position Summary
JOB DESCRIPTION

The ideal candidate will have experience working with various hand tools and power tools, reading blueprints, and utilizing tape measures etc.... Any mounting experience is a bonus. Primarily, you need to have experience with power tools and hand tools - drills, impact wrenches, torque wrenches, etc. As a note we do not have air conditioning in the plant. The Mechanical Fitter is responsible for safely and effectively preparing and assembling mechanical components from intake to shipment.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain a positive, solutions-focused, and productive attitude in support of plant goals for reliability, safety, integrity, quality, and overall performance.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to assemble mechanical components using hand tools, torque wrenches, and other equipment.
  • Utilize forklifts, overhead cranes, and material handling equipment to transport components within the facility.
  • Perform mechanical troubleshooting to identify and address issues during assembly and ensure proper documentation of corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with team members to solve production challenges and meet daily targets.
  • Assist with basic maintenance tasks and support engineering or electrical teams when needed.
  • Maintain accurate production records, including parts assembled and quantities completed.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Prior experience using hand tools and operating forklifts
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems and safe work practices
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate’s Degree or Technical Certification in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience or prior certification in operating overhead cranes
  • Familiarity with mechanical fitting in a manufacturing or industrial environment
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to routinely lift 50+ lbs and transport objects as needed
  • Ability to climb ladders
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks including bending, twisting, squatting, and climbing
  • Manual dexterity to operate hand tools and mechanical equipment
ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
  • Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments where temperatures may exceed 100°F or fall below 32°F, including exposure to environmental elements
