2nd SHIFT - MATERIAL HANDLER (OMAHA PRODUCTION)

4-day/10-hour shifts: Mon-Thurs 4:30pm - 3:00am

We are a well-established, Omaha-based manufacturer with over 65 years of providing quality products to our clients. Phillips Manufacturing is the one-stop shop for drywall finishing accessories, lath, stucco accessories, metal channels, interior framing, and fire-rated assemblies with facilities around the country.

A Material Handler in Steel performs a variety of tasks focused on shipping/receiving, warehousing, maintaining & moving inventory, assembling orders, and accurate data reporting. May operate hand and power equipment for material handling to facilitate movement of products throughout the production facility.

Essential Functions
  • Read work orders or follow oral instructions to determine appropriate materials to be moved.
  • Operate all forklifts and attached equipment safely to prevent damage or harm.
  • Report mechanical or electrical issues to the appropriate personnel.
  • Inventory materials on the production floor; supply workers with materials as needed.
  • Scan, track, record, and communicate material information accurately.
  • Ensure correct pallets, cartons, and lifts are ready for various operating units.
  • Band and warehouse finished products to specifications as necessary.
  • Locate materials within the plant according to production requirements and transport them within the warehouse.
  • Visually inspect finished goods for quality, packaging, labels, and counts before storage.
  • Properly identify products to prevent errors in data entry and inventory.
  • Label and tag materials as required by work orders.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Maintain regular and dependable attendance and punctuality, including overtime if needed.
  • Follow all safety rules and wear proper safety attire at all times.
Job Specifications: Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Perform semi-routine tasks involving detail and judgment.
  • Knowledge of occupational safety rules and practices.
  • Ability to reason through problems.
  • Follow simple oral and written instructions.
  • Perform strenuous work in all weather conditions.
  • Visually check equipment for adjustments.

Materials Used: Steel coils, product, lubricants, banding tools, packaging materials.

Tools & Equipment: Material handling equipment, pallets, marking tools, scales, banding materials, pneumatic staplers, nailers.

Work Conditions: Manufacturing environment with noise, dust, fumes, and limited climate control.

Requirements: Minimum 2 years of shipping, warehousing, inventory management, and scanning experience preferred; forklift driving required; ability to lift/carry up to 60 lbs.
