Job summary

IDEX in Rutherford, NJ is seeking a Machine Operator I (2nd shift) to safely run production equipment and support assembly/machining operations. You will load materials, monitor performance, and ensure products meet quality standards within an ISO 9001 framework.

This entry-level role requires a high school diploma or GED, willingness to work overtime, and the ability to follow written work instructions. Training is provided, with a potential performance-based bonus and a comprehensive benefits

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
• Previous manufacturing, production, assembly, or machine operation experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to follow written work instructions and standard operating procedures.
• Basic computer skills and ability to enter information into manufacturing or ERP systems.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.
• Ability to work overtime, weekends, and variable schedules as business needs require.

Responsibilities

• Operate assigned manufacturing equipment and workstations in accordance with established work instructions, procedures, and safety requirements.
• Load raw materials, components, and workpieces into machines or fixtures as required.
• Monitor machine operation and product flow to ensure efficient production and adherence to established cycle times and output targets.
• Conduct visual inspections of parts and assemblies to verify conformance with quality standards and work instructions.
• Identify and report product defects, equipment issues, material shortages, or other production concerns to the supervisor.
• Complete required production documentation and transactions within ERP or manufacturing systems to maintain accurate production and inventory records.
• Follow ISO 9001 procedures and documented quality processes to ensure consistency and compliance with customer requirements.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment through daily 6S/housekeeping activities.
• Adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to improve safety, quality, delivery, and productivity.
• Work collaboratively with team members, supervisors, quality personnel, and other departments to achieve operational objectives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
