2nd Shift Manufacturing Maintenance Technician
Our machines are critical to the success of our operation. Under general supervision, Maintenance Technicians will perform services and repairs to ensure the reliability of equipment and improve overall equipment effectiveness within the manufacturing facility. Skills required include mechanical, electrical, plumbing, welding, fabrication, carpentry, painting, plastering, janitorial, HVAC, ammonia, machine & vehicle servicing. The individual must work safely and cohesively to support, sustain, and improve the manufacturing facility, building, and grounds. Troubleshooting and observing data are foundational skills for this role at Oberweis Dairy. Documenting procedures and following written standard operating procedures are essential for success.
Shift: Monday to Friday
Salary: $32-$38/hr, based on experience
Manufacturing Maintenance Technician Job Functions
- Assist with development and execution of the Preventive Maintenance Program.
- Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment through preventive maintenance on motors, pneumatic systems, conveyor systems, and other production machines.
- Use troubleshooting skills to repair issues with production equipment.
- Remove and replace defective parts by dismantling devices; use hoists, cranes, hand and power tools; examine parts' form and texture.
- Proficient with basic 120 VAC control circuits and 3-phase AC voltage sources (277/480 VAC) for electrical repairs, adjustments, and installations.
- Inspect used parts with rulers, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments to determine dimensional changes.
- Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments.
- Fabricate repair parts using machine shop equipment.
- Maintain equipment, parts, and supply inventories.
- Maintain technical knowledge and pursue continuous improvement through workshops, publications, and networking.
- Document and communicate actions, irregularities, and needs to maintain team continuity.
- Follow safety and cleanliness procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Completion of apprenticeship or Associate's Degree in a related field preferred.
- Five or more years of industrial manufacturing maintenance experience preferred.
- Experience in food/beverage manufacturing preferred.
- Certifications such as EPA, Ammonia Systems, HVAC, Electrical are preferred.
Computer Skills
- Ability to record data in spreadsheets, analyze, and prepare reports using Microsoft Office.
- Proficient with smartphone usage, texting, and emailing.
Reasoning Abilities
- Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization.
- Conduct cause and effect analysis for troubleshooting intermittent failures.
- Interpret instructions in various formats.
Physical Demands
- Standing, stooping, walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling.
- Work from ladders or elevated lifts.
- Lift and carry 50-100 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close, color, and peripheral vision.
Environmental Conditions
- Work in temperatures from -40°F to 130°F.
- Work in wet environments.
Additional Information
- This position requires a full weekly schedule with potential shifts outside normal hours based on business needs. On-call coverage is shared among maintenance staff for emergencies.
