Job summary

SteelFab, Inc. in Charlotte, NC is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to repair and maintain machinery such as engines, motors, conveyors, and production equipment.

You will inspect parts, replace defective components, operate metalworking tools, and perform preventive maintenance; lifting up to 50 lbs is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs. frequently.
• Ability to read numbers, letters, and a dial clock.
• Ability to read and understand English instructions.
• Two or more years in manufacturing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Observe mechanical devices in operation to locate problems.
• Dismantle devices to access and replace defective parts.
• Inspect parts for dimensional changes and wear.
• Adjust parts and control instruments for proper function.
• Repair or replace defective components and install new parts.
• Operate drill press, grinder and other metalworking tools.
• Lubricate, clean, and test equipment after repairs.
• Initiate purchase orders for parts and machines.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Job Summary

Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment.

Shift Times

1st: 5:00am-3:30pm, Monday-Friday
2nd: 4:00pm-2:00am, Monday-Friday

Essential Job Functions

• Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
• Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
• Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
• Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
• Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
• Repairs or replaces defective parts.
• Installs special functional and structural parts in devices.
• Lubricates and cleans parts.
• Starts devices to test their performance.
• Sets up and operates drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
• Initiates purchase order for parts and machines.
• Repairs electrical equipment.
• Perform other duties as required by management.

Qualifications and Requirements

Required:

• High school education or equivalent.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. over shoulder height frequently.
• Must have vision correctable to at least 20/50 in one eye.
• Must be able to read numbers, letters, and a dial face clock.
• Must be able to speak and understand enough English to follow simple instructions.

Preferred:

• Two or more years experience in manufacturing.
