Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Provide mechanical, electrical, pneumatic/hydraulic expertise to production teams.
  • Follow GMP, Food Safety, BRC, and maintenance policies.
  • Maintain equipment to produce products safely and efficiently.
  • Assist in reading and understanding electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic drawings, blueprints, schematics.
  • Coordinate with contractors and maintenance leadership to ensure safe, efficient operations.
  • Perform setup, start-up, and changeover of equipment as required by standards.

Description

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing equipment to ensure efficient and reliable operations in the food manufacturing facility. This role involves performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting equipment issues, and adhering to safety and regulatory standards.

Physical Demands
  • Lifting and Carrying: Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, typically up to 50 pounds, and occasionally heavier items with assistance.
  • Standing and Walking: Prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout the facility.
  • Bending and Stooping: Frequent bending, stooping, and crouching to access equipment and perform maintenance tasks.
  • Climbing: Climbing ladders and stairs to reach elevated areas and equipment.
  • Manual Dexterity: Fine motor skills for handling tools, parts, and equipment with precision.
  • Reaching: Reaching overhead and at various heights to perform maintenance tasks.
  • Pushing and Pulling: Pushing and pulling carts, tools, and equipment.
  • Kneeling and Crawling: Kneeling and crawling to access hard-to-reach areas and perform repairs.
  • Visual Acuity: Good vision to read technical manuals, schematics, and to inspect equipment.
  • Hearing: Ability to hear alarms, machinery sounds, and communicate effectively in a noisy environment.
  • Balance and Coordination: Maintaining balance and coordination while working on ladders, scaffolding, or in confined spaces.

  • Equipment Maintenance: Proficiency in maintaining and repairing food manufacturing equipment, including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.

  • Troubleshooting: Identifying and resolving equipment malfunctions and breakdowns efficiently.
  • Technical Documentation: Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.

  • Provide technical (mechanical, electrical, pneumatic/hydraulic) expertise to production teams to assist in creating and implementing the best solutions to manufacturing challenges.
  • Follow GMP, Food Safety, Food Defense, BRC, Food Quality and Maintenance policies.
  • Maintain equipment in production to produce products in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Provide training or assistance to other employees in use, and handling of equipment.
  • Assist in enforcing safety and GMP policies.
  • Ability to read, follow and understand electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic drawings, blueprints, schematics, code requirements, service manuals and manufacturers' specifications.
  • Mechanically install, modify, enhance and repair machines and mechanical equipment.
  • Perform preventative inspections and repairs on equipment and facilities and to document inspections and service Experience in machine repair
  • Ability to assist with managing projects and resources effectively, including Allen Bradley PLC troubleshooting, understanding advanced electrical prints and schematics to facilitate complex repairs or installation of equipment
  • Perform setup, start-up, Adjust and Operation of Equipment; Proper Shutdown and Changeover as required by company standards
  • Perform start of shift walk through and equipment checks, and complete relevant line start-up check sheet
  • Proven mechanical inclination and general math and manufacturing knowledge through standardized tests
  • Perform upgrades to equipment as needed or assigned.
  • Assist in response to any foreign material issues that may arise.
  • Act as contact with any contractors that may be doing work in the facility and verify that they follow SnackCraft GMPs and rules.
  • Coordinate with operators to keep line running through breaks including operating equipment as needed
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and basic electrical concerns of the equipment, maintain and improve integrity and performance of all focus line/s equipment, and complete scheduled work orders
  • Communicate and coordinate with Maintenance and Production Leadership any maintenance activities required on assigned equipment to ensure optimum line efficiency and product quality

QualificationsEducation and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Completion of an associate's degree in industrial maintenance technology (or similar program)
  • Ability to train, teach, and assess other Maintenance Technician trainees, leading and mentoring in a team environment
