Job summary

Five Below is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician to maintain and repair automated material handling equipment across our distribution operations. You will troubleshoot electrical/mechanical systems, adjust conveyors, robotics, and scanners, and perform preventive maintenance to ensure high equipment uptime.

Candidates should have strong PC skills, be familiar with wiring diagrams and electrical principles, and hold a high school diploma or technical degree.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Technical or community college degree in mechanical or electrical field preferred.
  • 2+ years apprenticeship or equivalent experience in mechanical or electrical field.
  • Experience with automated conveyor systems and controls.
  • Experience with Material Handling Equipment (MHE) safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical aspects of MHE on site, including conveyors, sortation, forklifts, and robotics.
  • Adjust scanners and cameras; reset or replace belts, chains, cables, and wear parts.
  • Read electrical schematics and blueprints; use meters and infrared tools for diagnostics.
  • Perform basic electrical maintenance and repair of circuits; document with CMMS.
  • Serve as first line support for building critical assets and safety procedures.

You will use preventive and predictive maintenance processes, rapidly troubleshoot equipment breakdowns, and quickly restore equipment to service to support the successful operation of the supply chain facility. You will work with other maintenance technicians to solve problems, validate the quality of work performed by outside specialty contractors, work with building leaders to optimize material-handling equipment, and meet aggressive timelines.RESPONSIBILITIESMaintain and troubleshoot all electrical and mechanical aspects of Material Handling Equipment (MHE) on site, including conveyor systems, sortation, Fork Trucks, roboticsAdjust scanners and camerasReset, repair, or replace adjustable components (belts, chains, cables) and wearing components (guides, bearings, wheels, rollers, pulleys)Clean, lubricate, and calibrate equipmentUse appropriate job plans, procedures, and manualsMaintain and troubleshoot motors, photo eyes, relays, proximity sensors, solenoids, motor starters, tachometers, encoders, etc.Perform basic electrical maintenance and simple repair/replace of various electrical circuits and related electronic equipment, using tools such as multi-meters and infrared thermometersRead and understand basic electrical and electronic schematicsAssist with basic electronics/ Programmable Logic Controls troubleshootingConduct maintenance and basic troubleshootingServe as first line support for all building critical assets, air compressors, RTUs, label printers, jockey, fleet trucks, battery changers, etc.Utilize Emaint (CMMS) to create and close Work Orders with appropriate data (labor hours, downtime, problem/cause/remedy, and parts used)Develop and maintain positive working relationships across all levels of the organizationFollow appropriate safety procedures and use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while maintaining equipment (Lock Out/Tag Out, Arc Flash, Hot Work, Fire Impairment etc.), and ensure a safe work environment by eliminating potential equipment safety hazardsensure a safe work environment by eliminating potential equipment safety hazardsFrequently monitor all aspects of the internal and external worksite, which may include standing/walking for up to 8-10 hours.Must be willing to work overtime as needed as well as flex to support other shiftsLift and/or move product or items up to 50 poundsAbility to operate all powered lift equipment within the facility (fork trucks, scissor lifts, boom lifts, etc.)The ability/flexibility to perform all other task in alignment with the needs of the businessQUALIFICATIONSExcellent PC competency and ability to use LaptopFamiliar with wiring diagrams, symbols and electrical measuringExperience in the following areas:Work order managementPreventive/predictive maintenance proceduresBasic blueprint and schematic readingElectrical and electronic principlesBasic metal fabrication and weldingIndustrial Controls and ElectronicsAssist in troubleshooting of basic Input/output functionsHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredDegree from a Technical or Community College with a focus in the Mechanical or Electrical field preferred2+ years apprenticeship or equivalent experience in the Mechanical or Electrical fieldExperience with automated conveyor systems and controlsExperience with Material Handling Equipment (MHE) safety standardsExplore our benefits site to discover all the perks and support we offer!
