Job summary

Dover Fueling Solutions (DFS) in Smithfield, NC seeks a Maintenance Technician I on 2nd shift to perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems, and repair CNC and automated equipment. You’ll read manuals and diagrams, document work orders, and support safety and continuous improvement initiatives.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, plus 1–3 years in industrial maintenance, with proficiency in multimeters and electrical safety.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Technical school or industrial maintenance training preferred.
• 1–3 years of industrial maintenance experience preferred.
• Basic understanding of electrical troubleshooting.
• Ability to safely use a digital multimeter.
• Basic understanding of AC/DC voltage and electrical safety.
• Mechanical aptitude with experience using hand and power tools.
• Familiarity with hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, motors, and industrial machinery.
• Ability to read basic electrical diagrams and mechanical prints.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on manufacturing equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical components including bearings, belts, chains, gearboxes, pumps, motors, and drive systems.
• Assist with diagnosing electrical problems using a multimeter.
• Read voltage, check continuity, verify power, and test fuses.
• Replace sensors, switches, contactors, relays, proximity switches, limit switches, and other electrical components as directed.
• Perform lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures before servicing equipment.
• Troubleshoot hydraulic and pneumatic systems including cylinders, valves, hoses, regulators, and air leaks.
• Perform repairs on CNC equipment and automated machinery under guidance when necessary.
• Read equipment manuals, mechanical drawings.
• Complete work orders and maintenance documentation accurately.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment reliability.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns in a timely manner.
