Job summary

Upstate Niagara Cooperative, a large dairy cooperative owned by 200+ local farms, is seeking a maintenance supervisor for the North Lawrence plant (2nd shift 12pm-8:30pm) to ensure reliable operation of process systems.

You will oversee electro-mechanical systems, pneumatics, PLCs, and instrumentation while prioritizing safety and efficiency. A strong candidate will train staff, monitor performance, and maintain compliance with environmental and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain plant systems and equipment.
• Manage preventative and predictive maintenance.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
• Troubleshoot PLC and computer-controlled devices.
• Troubleshoot minor plumbing and building maintenance.
• Provide training to team members.
• Monitor performance and rectify deviations in utility equipment.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
• Oversee maintenance staff performance and safety training.

Hours: 2nd Shift (12pm-8:30pm) - must have weekend and holiday availability.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for all phases of operation and maintenance of systems, includes primary and ancillary equipment.
• Manage preventative maintenance and predictive maintenance of process equipment throughout the plant.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
• Troubleshoot PLC and computer controlled devices.
• Troubleshoot minor plumbing, building repair, and maintenance.
• Train others on the team.
• Responsible for monitoring performance, efficiency of utility-related process equipment. Recognizing deviation from optimal and rectifying it.
• Responsible/assure first-line compliance with Federal, State and Local regulatory agencies for environmental discharges. Command understanding of regulations.
• Responsible for maintenance employee job performance, including safety, orientation, training and discipline. Assure compliance with employee relation’s policies and programs.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma
• Must have experience with electro-mechanical, pneumatics, PLC controllers, and process instrumentation
• Ability to read and interpret schematics and drawings
• Must have excellent verbal and written skills
• Must have strong problem solving skills
• Must be a self motivated individual
• Ability to work well with others and be a team member

• Ability to train others
• Must show enthusiasm, initiative, and pride in work

Must be a minimum of 18 years of age

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related technical field is preferred and 5 years in-depth experience with industrial ammonia refrigeration and steam boiler systems, supplemented by formal education courses may be substituted for the degree requirement.
• Demonstrated communication, technical skills and supervisor/management experience. Previous budget management responsibilities and control system experiences. This position requires the ability to demonstrate excellence in the following areas; ability to align performance for success, build successful teams, plan and organize, effective decision making, quality to orientation, manage conflict and strategic communication skills.

Pay: $80,000-$90,000 per year*

Actual compensation may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, training, knowledge, education, and overall qualifications. The posted salary range reflects just one component of our total rewards package.
