Job Overview

The Machine Operator operates machinery to meet customer specifications in compliance with company policy related to GMPs and Safety. Acts in lead capacity to ensure line is running efficiently.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Maintain area, equipment and personal sanitation.
  2. Ensure proper set up of film, zipper, labels, cheese and operation of machinery.
  3. Frequently inspect conveyor belt to ensure smooth flow of cheese.
  4. Inspect Machine E stops to ensure functionality before production starts.
  5. Load cheese.
  6. Grease/clean machine and perform basic maintenance tasks based on preventative maintenance schedule.
  7. Ensure cheese quality.
  8. Ensure that products produced are within the weight specification/regulation per our Statistical Process Control (SPC) programming system.
  9. Disassembly and assembly of equipment.
  10. Sanitation of machinery.
  11. Productive use of down time.
  12. Communicate to line personnel on daily production issues, changes, and safety issues.
  13. Operate assigned equipment safely and efficiently.
  14. All GLC employees are expected to perform any assignment or job task according to the stated safety policies & procedures.
  15. All GLC employees are expected to produce our products in a manner that exceeds the quality and value expectation of our customers and consumers by adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices, Policies and Procedures outlined in our Safe Quality Food Program.
  16. Other responsibilities as assigned by the manager.

Required Education And Experience

  1. Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and related equipment.
  2. Ability to make minor decisions based on standard practices.
  3. Ability to read, prepare, and comprehend production reports and worksheets.
  4. Ability to communicate with line personnel regarding information contained therein, and regarding quality & safety issues.
  5. Ability to motivate and build teamwork.
  6. Ability to handle multiple tasks, troubleshoot and problem solve.
  7. Above average mechanical ability required.
  8. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
  9. Ability to take metric measurements and measurements of temperature.

Preferred Education And Experience

  1. High School diploma or GED.
  2. Good troubleshooting skills.
  3. SAP experience.
  4. MES experience.
  5. Basic computer skills.

Working Conditions

  1. Ability to constantly stand/walk; bend/flex/extend neck; frequently grip/reach/lift/pull with L/R hands.
  2. Ability to frequently handle material from floor-to-waist, waist-to-shoulder and pushing/pulling/carrying.
  3. Product weight: up to 50 lbs.
  4. Repetitive work in a fast-paced production environment with average temperature of 50-60 degrees F.
