This is a 2nd shift position. Hours: 2pm - 10pm

Purpose:

The machine operator is a critical team member for the Paramount, California operation. They will safely operate machines to process customer orders.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate cutting machine(s) according to established procedures and guidelines.
• Use power equipment to process materials based on customer order requirements.
• Safely adjust machine settings to complete tasks according to specifications.
• Identify and report defects or excessive wear of equipment; perform setup and preventative maintenance; maintain a safe work environment.
• Handle special projects as assigned.
• Assist with Warehouse Operator responsibilities as needed, including loading/unloading trucks, material movement, operating power equipment (crown truck, Raymond side-loader, overhead crane, forklift), and preparing orders for shipment.

Required Qualifications:

• Two years of relevant machine operator experience, preferably in the metals service center industry.
• Certification in assigned equipment (forklift, Raymond side-loader, overhead crane, etc.)
• Basic measurement and math competency.
• Knowledge of warehouse concepts, practices, and procedures.
• Strong work ethic.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:

• Manual dexterity, standing, walking, stooping, bending, reaching.
• Push/pull, light lifting (up to 25 lbs), heavy lifting (25-50 lbs).
• Exposure to industrial equipment; operation of machinery and power tools; use of PPE.
