Job description

Job Summary:
The Machine Operator is responsible for producing quality parts for our customers.
Operators will review production schedules and work orders to determine processing sequences, furnace temperatures, shaping specifications, and heat cycle requirements for parts to be heat-treated.

Essential Functions:

  1. Study blueprints, manuals, and dispatch specifications to determine dimensions, tolerances, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
  2. Locate and retrieve parts using carts or a stand-up forklift.
  3. Load and unload parts into the furnace using cranes.
  4. Set up furnace loads to correct temperature, working with extreme heat.
  5. Physically move parts to the next stage.
  6. Operate presses, cranes, and machines.
  7. Learn all aspects of Heat Treat processes, such as quenching, normalizing solutions, first temper, scrapping, final temper, etc.
  8. Conduct hardness testing and inspection work.
  9. Follow the department's continuous improvement plan in daily work activities.

Non-Essential Functions:

  1. Promote safety by working in a safe manner at all times, in accordance with company policies.
  2. Sweep and maintain a clean area around the machine.
  3. Remove trash from the work area.
  4. Write up completed job orders.
