Description

The Machine Operator performs various warehouse responsibilities including pulling and checking customer orders, moving materials, loading and unloading shipments, and general material handling. Operates equipment necessary for storing and moving products within the warehouse.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Essential Primary Responsibilities:

• Efficiently load and unload trucks.
• Perform material movement tasks for order fulfillment, receiving, and loading.
• Safely operate assigned power equipment (crown truck, Raymond side-loader, overhead crane, forklift, etc.) to move materials and fulfill orders.
• Select, fill, and package orders according to customer requirements.
• Attach bundle tags to shipped materials and stage for shipment.
• Follow instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform job functions.
• Work under immediate supervision.
• Report equipment defects or excessive wear; perform setup and preventative maintenance as needed.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions:

• Stooping, standing, manual dexterity required.
• Light lifting (up to 25 lbs), frequent heavy lifting (over 25 lbs).
• Wear assigned safety equipment at all times (hard hat, safety shoes with metatarsal protection, safety glasses, gloves, arm guards).
• Frequent exposure to mechanical moving parts.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Qualifications:

• Basic measurement and math skills.
• Knowledge of warehouse concepts, practices, and procedures.
• Strong work ethic.

Preferred Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of relevant work and equipment experience.
• PC literacy.
• Certification in operating equipment (forklift, Raymond side-loader, overhead crane, etc.).

PLC controlled cutting experience is preferred.
