Job summary

Prisma Nashville is seeking an experienced 2nd Shift Lead / Cutter Operator to operate and oversee production on a guillotine paper cutter in a fast-paced commercial printing environment. This hands-on role leads the second shift, ensures productivity, quality, and safety, and provides guidance to a small team.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of cutter experience, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to read job tickets, manage workloads, and maintain high standards on the shop floor.

Qualifications

• 3+ years experience operating a guillotine cutter in a commercial printing environment.
• Prior lead or supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of paper types, grain direction, and finishing processes.
• Ability to read job tickets and work independently.
• Mechanical aptitude and strong attention to detail.
• Ability to stand for long periods, bend, twist and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Reliable attendance and ability to work 2nd shift consistently.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate a guillotine cutter.
• Read and interpret job tickets, layouts, and cut sheets.
• Perform precise trimming, cutting, and stacking of paper and printed materials.
• Ensure finished pieces meet quality and dimensional specifications.
• Perform routine maintenance, blade changes, and minor troubleshooting.
• Act as the lead operator for 2nd shift operations.
• Assign work, coordinate job flow, and monitor production schedules.
• Train, mentor, and support 2nd shift team members as needed.
• Serve as point of contact for supervisors during second shift.
• Ensure safety procedures and company policies are followed.
• Inspect work for accuracy and quality throughout production.

This role is responsible for precise cutting of printed materials, leading second-shift operations, and ensuring productivity, quality, and safety standards are met.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong technical cutting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to guide and support a small team during second-shift operations.

Key Responsibilities

Cutter Operation

• Set up and operate a guillotine cutter
• Read and interpret job tickets, layouts, and cut sheets
• Perform precise trimming, cutting, and stacking of paper and printed materials
• Ensure finished pieces meet quality and dimensional specifications
