Job summary

Rochester Precision Optics seeks a Laser Engraving Machine Operator for the 2nd shift to engrave serial numbers and part markings on precision components. You will work from engineering drawings and production documents to ensure traceability and quality.

Responsibilities include loading fixtures, verifying engravings, and collaborating with Manufacturing and Quality teams to meet delivery timelines.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 2 years of manufacturing, machine operation, assembly, inspection, or other hands-on production experience.
• Ability to read and follow work instructions, production documentation, and basic engineering drawings.
• Strong attention to detail and high accuracy in repetitive tasks.
• Basic computer skills and ability to enter production data and review electronic work instructions.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to learn equipment operation and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to prioritize work and adapt to changing production requirements.

Responsibilities

• Operate laser engraving equipment to mark serial numbers, part numbers and customer information.
• Load/unload parts, position in fixtures to ensure repeatable engraving results.
• Review instructions and drawings to verify engraving requirements.
• Verify correct part identification, serial numbers, and revision levels per customer specs.
• Perform visual and dimensional inspections for engraving quality and accuracy.
• Maintain inventory of consumables, fixtures, and materials for daily production.
