Job summary

gpac seeks an experienced Journeyman Die Maker for our 2nd shift tool room in Avon, OH. You will build, repair, maintain, and troubleshoot stamping dies from blueprints and specs with high precision.

The ideal candidate has strong manual machining skills, die assembly and close-tolerance fitting, and a background in tooling environments. On-site, full-time role with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Journeyman Die Maker certification or equivalent experience.
• 1-2+ years in die making, die repair, or die maintenance.
• Strong manual machining experience.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Experience operating tool room equipment.
• Experience with ID/OD grinding to close tolerances.
• Strong shop math skills including geometry, algebra, and trigonometry.
• High school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Build, repair, maintain, and troubleshoot stamping dies.
• Read and interpret blueprints, die drawings, and specifications.
• Plan machining operations using shop math and metal-forming knowledge.
• Set up and operate manual machines: lathes, milling machines, grinders.
• Machine components to precise tolerances and verify with precision tools.
• Assemble, fit, polish, and adjust die components.
• Inspect die clearances, alignment, and dimensions using measuring instruments.
• Perform die tryouts and final adjustments in the press.
