Summary

Transfers full trailers from the holding areas to the processing area and then transfers empty trailers from the processing area to designated parking spaces, including regular rotation to other positions within the department. May or may not require a CDL license.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Operates jockey truck transferring trailers to and from the processing area, maneuvering in and out of the vehicle up to a height of 4 feet every 1/2 hour.
2. Ensures trailers are processed in the order designated by management.
3. Updates YMS (Yard Management System) and follows policies, keeping the yard organized.
4. Performs daily pre-operation vehicle inspections and post-operation cleaning.
5. Conducts periodic yard checks and communicates with gate, dock office, and management.
6. Must be able to perform the responsibilities of a forklift operator.

Minimum education: High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience Requirements

Requires reading and writing skills, a valid Class D driver’s license, and forklift certification through company training. A CDL license may be required.

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

Works outdoors year-round in seasonal temperatures, with noise exposure up to 96.2 dB, and light intensity below 5' candles. Exposure to wet and moist floors, metal and plastic grating surfaces, temperatures from 28°F to 100°F, humidity, and chemicals used in poultry processing. Must wear protective equipment as directed. Occasionally exposed to carbon dioxide vapors and chlorine. Ability to stand for hours, lift 35-65 lbs, reach, bend, push, and operate standup lift for extended periods.
