Job summary

Ice Cream Specialties in Lafayette, IN is seeking a Machine Operator for the 2nd shift to manage production lines and ensure ice cream novelties meet safety and quality standards. The role involves starting/stopping machines, adjusting packaging, and coordinating with maintenance.

The position offers weekend work, a 3:00 PM–12:00 AM schedule, and a $19.84–$20.84 hourly rate with a $1 shift premium when on 2nd shift hours. Prior Line Owner experience is helpful but not required.

Qualifications

• Ability to monitor several operations at a time.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Hand and wrist movement to grasp, hold and pack consistently.
• Time management.
• Strong team player: ability to demonstrate various production packer operations.
• Communication skills: ability to communicate with production packers and other plant personnel.
• Line Owner/Machine Operator experience is not required but preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follows all good manufacturing practices & safety procedures.
• Starts up &/or shuts down production machine.
• Performs machine adjustments & checks to ensure correct packaging materials, code dates, material weights, & other checks.
• Changes wrap, lids, sticks, fills & other packaging material on machine as needed.
• Adjusts various coding & tape machines on production line.
• Operates carton packing machine.
• Monitors temperature, gauges, quality of final product, allergens, material waste, etc.
• Works with maintenance team to identify mechanical errors on machine.
• Other duties assigned by supervisor.
