Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; training in machining preferred.
• Experience operating roll grinders, cylindrical grinders, or similar equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and shop sketches.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate roll grinding equipment to grind paper machine rolls to specified dimensions and finishes.
• Read and interpret work instructions, blueprints, roll records, and specifications to determine grinding requirements.
• Measure rolls with micrometers, calipers, indicators, and gauges to verify specifications.
• Inspect rolls for surface defects and wear, identifying repair needs or escalation.
• Safely handle, load, position, and unload large rolls using cranes, forklifts, and hoists.
