Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

2nd Shift Full Time General Maintenance Mechanic

Job Description

The Maintenance Mechanic performs duties involving carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, welding and other general mechanical skills associated with the repair and maintenance of facilities and equipment. Work is performed in and around buildings and grounds owned or leased by the College. The position also includes duties involving snow removal and grounds maintenance using a variety of equipment and manual labor in all weather conditions. The position is designated as 'essential personnel' which requires the incumbent to report to work during emergency situations when the campus might otherwise be closed. Work assignments may involve day, evening, and/or night work hours, as well as weekends and holidays. The position reports to the Manager of Facility Maintenance.

Required Qualifications:High School diploma or GED;Valid Ohio Driver’s license;Must be able to meet College insurability requirements;Must be at least 18 yrs of age;Five (5) years of work experience in a building maintenance environment as a commercial/industrial maintenance mechanic or a completed vocational or apprenticeship program;Knowledge of all types of tool in the trade;Ability to read and follow detailed work and safety instructions;Ability to work independently;Skills in keyboarding, basic math and grammar, and basic or standard word processing (MS Word). Proficiency with an email software package (MS Outlook) and the internet;Must have sensitivity to respond appropriately to the needs of a diverse population;Must be able to occasionally sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, taste and smell;Must be able to frequently stand, walk, use hands or feet, reach with hand and arms, and talk and hear;Must be able to lift 50 pounds without assistance;Must have color vision;Must be able to occasionally work in wet or humid conditions, work in high precarious places, work with fumes, and airborne particles, toxics or caustics chemicals, work in extreme cold and heat (non-weather)and work with risk of electric shock, vibration and bio-hazards;Must be able to regularly work near moving mechanical parts and in outdoor weather conditions;Must be able to work in an environment with a loud noise level.

Preferred Qualifications:Associates degree in a job-related field;Ability to direct a small work crew;Experience with electronic work order system;Trade license or certification;LTO (Lift-Truck-Operator) license.

Minimum Hourly rate of $22.31.
