Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking an experienced Fitting & Welding Foreman to lead the 2nd shift in York, PA. This role combines hands-on shop leadership with production coordination, scheduling, quality control, equipment management, and staff performance oversight.

The Foreman will ensure safe, efficient fabrication to meet quality standards and production timelines, coordinating with other departments to keep projects moving and deliveries on schedule.

Qualifications

  • Previous managerial or supervisory experience is required.
  • Strong knowledge of fabrication operations.
  • Experience with fitting, welding, and/or metal fabrication.
  • Excellent spoken and written English.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work the 2nd shift schedule, including overtime and Saturdays as needed.
  • Ability to lead employees while maintaining productivity, quality, and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, direct, and support shop employees during the second shift.
  • Enforce company policies, safety expectations, and established work procedures.
  • Oversee day-to-day fabrication shop activities, including personnel, equipment, tools, and materials.
  • Maintain and update production and fabrication schedules.
  • Coordinate deliveries and help ensure projects remain on schedule.
  • Establish and communicate standard fabrication procedures.
  • Monitor finished work to maintain quality standards and effective quality control.
  • Review production methods and identify opportunities to improve employee performance, efficiency, and product quality.
  • Work with other departments to coordinate project requirements and schedules.
  • Monitor equipment and building conditions and arrange for maintenance when necessary.
  • Communicate product status, quality concerns, and delivery information with other departments and facilities.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with vendors and suppliers.
  • Make operational decisions that support the best interests of the company.
  • Maintain an appropriate workload throughout the shop and communicate needs or concerns to the Regional Fabrication Operations Manager.
  • Monitor inventory levels in coordination with the First Shift Foreman, Regional Fabrication Operations Manager, and Purchasing.
  • Adjust work hours as necessary to support delivery commitments.

2nd Shift Fitting & Welding Foreman

Location: York, PA
Job Type: Direct Hire
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 2:00 PM–12:00 AM
Starting rate: $32.00 per hour, with higher pay available based on experience, plus a $3.00/hour shift differential for second shift.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Fitting & Welding Foreman to lead second-shift fabrication operations. This position combines hands-on shop leadership with responsibility for production coordination, scheduling, quality, equipment, materials, and employee performance.
