Job summary

Precision Castparts Corp. is seeking a Belt Operator for our Crooksville, OH plant. The role focuses on removing excess metal and surface defects from castings, grinding and smoothing surfaces prior to finishing operations according to engineering procedures.

The candidate will operate grinders, select abrasives, and ensure proper finishing. High school diploma or GED required; overtime on weekdays and weekends may be requested. ITAR/EAR compliance considerations apply to this position.

POSITION SUMMARY

Removes excess metal and surface defects from castings; grinds and smoothes surfaces of castings prior to finishing operations by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Examines and feels surface of castings for defects.
• Selects grade of abrasive belt, wheel, or disk according to Engineering Procedures, knowledge of abrasives, and condition of castings, and attaches to grinder.
• Attaches wheel or belt to drive mechanism.
• Starts grinder and moves casting against abrasive wheel to remove scratches, excess metal, and burs.
• Polishes ground areas with finer abrasive to produce smooth, unmarred surface.
• Replaces worn abrasive disks, wheels, and belts.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Regular attendance and the ability to work weekday and weekend overtime.
