Job summary

API Heat Transfer in Buffalo, NY is seeking a 2nd shift Fab S/U Welder to join our Lean Transformation. The role focuses on fabricating and welding with ASME qualifications, including TIG/MIG, and maintaining high-quality welds.

You will operate specialized weld equipment and adhere to safety and productivity standards. Qualified candidates will undergo written and practical weld tests, with potential for career development across our multi-site operations.

Qualifications

• Must pass a written competency skills test at interview time.
• Candidate will be required to pass a series of weld tests to be hired.
• Must qualify for ASME Section VIII & IX Code Welding using various processes.
• Must be code qualified on shop welding procedures for carbon and stainless steels.
• Must demonstrate consistent weld quality and fit-up; productivity must meet time estimates.

Responsibilities

• Check material allocated for fabrication per BOM or drawings.
• Set up operations for layout, cutting, and welding related to the job.
• Perform burning, cutting and beveling to verify length and size per specs.
• Align fittings per drawings using fixtures and tools.
• Operate coupling and tubesheet welders in the DFT line.
• Assist lower grades as needed and protect machine surfaces during welding.
