Job summary

API Heat Transfer in Buffalo, NY is seeking a 2nd shift Fab S/U Welder to contribute to our lean transformation and high‑quality fabrication. You will perform welding and fabrication tasks, qualify for ASME welding procedures, and operate tube and coupling welders in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The role demands attention to drawings, strict adherence to tolerances, and the ability to pass competency and weld tests.

Qualifications

• Must pass a written competency skills test at time of interview.
• Candidate will be required to pass weld tests to be hired.
• Must qualify for ASME Section VIII & IX Weld procedures (MIG/TIG/METAL arc).
• Able to demonstrate consistent weld quality and fit-up.
• Must meet production timelines and maintain safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Check material against BOM or drawings and prepare for fabrication.
• Set up and operate coupling and tubesheet welders in the DFT line.
• Perform layout, burning, cutting and beveling per specifications.
• Ensure correct size, length, and tolerances; use fixtures and gauges.
• Maintain machine surfaces and protect tools during welding.
• Notify foreman of defective materials and stop work when needed.
• Demonstrate and maintain ASME code welding compliance as required.
