Job summary

Interlochen Center for the Arts in Interlochen, MI, is hiring for a Full-Time 2nd Shift Custodian (Year-Round). The role covers cleaning and maintaining classrooms, offices, restrooms, residence halls, and common spaces on a large, scenic campus.

Shifts run 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., with responsibilities including routine cleaning, event preparation, and collaboration with the Environmental Services team to support campus activities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• No prior custodial experience required, but previous cleaning experience is a plus.
• Willingness to learn Interlochen’s cleaning standards, procedures, equipment, and products on the job.

Responsibilities

• Clean and care for assigned buildings and spaces, including classrooms, offices, restrooms, residence halls, common areas, and other campus facilities.
• Perform routine custodial tasks such as vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, dusting, cleaning glass and surfaces, sanitizing restrooms, and removing trash and recycling.
• Take ownership of assigned areas, prioritizing cleaning needs based on daily use, events, and schedules.
• Work with EVS team on larger spaces, events, and peak campus needs.
• Prepare and refresh spaces for students, employees, guests, performances, and events.
• Respond to spills and other custodial requests throughout the day.
• Safely operate custodial equipment and transport as needed.
