Job summary

Thunderbird Molding in New Albany, MS, seeks a skilled CNC Technician to setup and operate turning centers and milling machines, perform tool changes and offsets, and ensure first-pieces meet print specifications.

The role requires basic G-code programming, blueprint reading, and the ability to train junior operators while maintaining safe, efficient production.

Qualifications

• Mechanical aptitude and ability to work physically for long shifts.
• Experience with turning centers and milling machines; blueprints reading.
• Basic G-code programming and editing skills.
• Ability to troubleshoot quality and production issues.
• Proficient with calipers, micrometers, and other measuring tools.

CNC Technician Position Overview

Responsible for performing tool changes/offsets of CNC machines. Produce first pieces which meet part print specification requirements. Required to set up the necessary gaging and the required work holding and tooling for the job.

Responsibilities

• Accurate and safe machine operation.
• Performing tool changes and offsets of CNC machines.
• Test operation of machines periodically.
• Trains all lower-level operators.
• Fix issues that might occur during the shift.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Mechanical aptitude required.
• Must be able to handle physical, repetitive work and stand on your feet for 8-12 hours a day.
• Must have knowledge of turning centers and milling machines.
• Knowledge of horizontal machining centers a plus.
• Must have basic G-code programming and editing skills.
• Knowledge of general machining processes and ability to read blueprints.
• Must be able to troubleshoot and resolve quality and production issues.
• Must be comfortable working with calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
• Ability to train, coordinate, and communicate effectively with all departments.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
• The employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts.
• Frequently required to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
• Frequently required standing, bending, squatting, and reaching with hands and arms.
• Regularly required to stand for long periods, walk, talk, and hear.
• Ability to use hand tools.
• Ability to read applicable instructions.
