Job summary

Kaney in Rockford, IL is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to setup and operate CNC equipment to produce quality parts that meet specifications. You will inspect parts and make adjustments per manufacturing practices and company policies.

The role requires strong mechanical aptitude, ability to read G&M programs, blueprints, and GD&T, and may involve training other operators and first-piece verification across the shop.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to read and understand G&M programming.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints/drawings.
  • Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).

Responsibilities

  • Perform setups and operation of assigned CNC equipment.
  • Inspection using variety of gauging including CMM.
  • Use common inspection equipment: micrometers, indicators, and calipers.
  • Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.
  • Assist in the training of other operators in the safe use and operation of CNC equipment.
  • Perform first piece sample verification of work done by others throughout the manufacturing operation.
  • Maintain correct time reporting and accurate entries on manufacturing and inspection records.
  • Comply with all company quality and safety requirements.

Perform quality inspections of their work and make any required adjustments per general manufacturing practices and company policies/procedures.

  • Inspection using variety of gauging including CMM.

  • Assist in the training of other operators in the safe use and operation of CNC equipment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

Minimum Competencies:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to read and understand G&M programming
  • Ability to read and interpret blue prints/drawings.
  • Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 years of tool maker / tool room experience preferred
  • Aerospace experience is a plus.

Operational Details / Work Environment:

  • This position operates in a shop environment with moving machinery.
  • This is largely a sedentary role; however, some lifting is required. This would require the ability to lift up to 50 lbs and bend or stand as necessary.
