Job summary

Rockford Ball Screw Co. is seeking a 2nd shift CNC Setup Technician to set up, operate, and maintain CNC and manual machinery (Lathes/Mills) in a fast-paced production environment. You will troubleshoot, optimize setups and programs, and continuously improve processes to ensure quality and on-time delivery.

The role reports to the Production Supervisor with potential collaboration from a Production Lead. Strong CAD/readings, blueprint interpretation, and measurements with micrometers/calipers

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; 3.5+ years operating CNC machinery including multi-axis systems.
• Ability to read blueprints & part schematics; interpret drawings and tolerances.
• Experience with CNC lathes/mills, setup, calibration, and tooling selection.
• Proficient in using measuring tools (micrometers, calipers) and basic hand tools.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and initiative to reduce downtime and improve processes.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and adjust CNC machines (Mazaks, Doosans, INDEX, Nakamura) to tight tolerances.
• Develop and optimize CNC programs, fixtures, tooling, and setup procedures.
• Troubleshoot complex machine issues to minimize downtime and maintain productivity.
• Perform CNC setup in assigned area and support operators and tenders.
• Inspect parts in-process using micrometers and calipers; document results.
