Job summary

Hydro, Inc. is seeking a 2nd Shift CNC Machinist - Programmer to join our Chicago-area team. The role focuses on programming Mazak lathes with Mazatrol control, and requires setting up and operating both lathes and mills on large, refurbished parts.

Qualifications

• 3+ years’ experience in CNC Programing Mazak Lathe with Mazatrol control.
• Modify existing programs for custom parts and components.
• Must be able to efficiently and effectively set up and operate CNC lathes and mills.
• Complete set-ups on a variety of large, refurbished parts.
• Knowledge of tool layout and set up of raw material.
• Machine parts to close tolerances (.001) from raw material and/or castings in the most efficient manner while understanding safety and quality requirements.
• Read and interpret drawings using conventional tolerances as well as geometric tolerances.
• Adjust speeds and feeds to maximize machining productivity.
• Candidate must be proficient with using varied measuring tools.
• Sufficient math skills required to compute radii, bolt circles and other dimensions.
• Work well with Hydro shop team and independently.

• Program CNC Mazak lathes and mills using Mazatrol controls.

• Setup and operate CNC lathes and mills efficiently.
• Complete set-ups on large, refurbished parts.
• Read and interpret drawings and tolerances to ensure precision.
• Select and adjust speeds/feeds to optimize productivity.
• Utilize measuring tools to verify dimensions.
• Collaborate with Hydro shop team and work independently.
