Job summary

Lapham Hickey in Columbus, OH is seeking a Plasma Operator to join our metal fabrication team. You will set up and operate CNC plasma cutting equipment to meet blueprints and customer specs, perform material handling, and ensure safe operation.

Role requires experience with plasma cutting, blueprint reading, and proper use of measuring tools; you must be able to lift up to 75 pounds and work with cranes or forklifts as needed. This is a full-time position with a physically demanding environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year plasma cutting or CNC machine operation experience preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work orders.
• Ability to read measuring tools (tape measure, calipers, micrometers).
• Knowledge of plasma cutting equipment, materials, and cutting processes.
• Basic understanding of CNC controls and nesting programs preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC plasma cutting machine per blueprints and specs.
• Load and unload raw material and remove finished parts.
• Read blueprints and nesting layouts to determine job requirements.
• Monitor cutting operations for quality, kerf, and efficiency.
• Inspect finished parts using measuring tools for dimensional accuracy.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and keep work area clean.
• Communicate with shifts about job status and issues.
• Follow safety policies and wear PPE.
