Job summary

RBC Bearings is seeking a CNC Lathe Operator to run computerized turning and milling equipment, producing bearing components at high production and quality levels. You will read engineering prints, replace worn inserts, adjust offsets for wear, and inspect your own work with precision instruments.

Maintain lubrication, keep the area clean, and record production data while performing related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Operation of CNC lathe and related equipment to produce bearing components at optimum production/quality levels.
  • Replacing worn/broken inserts or tools; adjusting offsets to compensate for tool wear.
  • Must interpret engineering prints and verbal instructions.
  • Inspecting own work using precision measuring instruments.
  • Maintain equipment with proper lubrication and report maintenance issues promptly.
  • Keep work area clean and segregate/transport parts.
  • Maintain accurate production records and counts; perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Under the direction of the supervisor, either directly or through the leadperson, set‑up person, or programmer, this individual is responsible for the operation of a number of computerized, numerically controlled machines and related equipment to produce bearing components at optimum production and quality levels. Operations include but are not limited to turning, milling, deburring, buffing, tumbling, heat treat strike, etc.

Working from engineering prints, verbal instructions and a CRT display, the employee is responsible for replacing worn or broken inserts or tools, adjusting and/or correcting offsets to compensate for tool wear. This employee will be responsible for inspecting own work and as such, must be able to use and interpret a wide variety of precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, verniers, indicators, shadow gauges, air gages, talysurf, optical comparator, etc.

The Operator‑CNC Lathe is responsible for maintaining equipment in good working order through both periodic and proper lubrication and reporting of maintenance requirements. This individual must notify the leadperson or supervisor of maintenance issues in a timely manner.

This person must keep the work area and machine clean and will be responsible for the segregation, identification and transportation of parts in the work area. Other responsibilities include maintaining accurate production records and counts, performing unusual or experimental work and performing any other reasonable duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Basic computer skills are required for data collection as necessary.
