Job summary

Dover Precision in Houston is seeking a 2nd Shift CNC Machinist to operate lathe and mill machines and perform setup per drawings. You will inspect first pieces and record data while maintaining tooling and machines. The role requires GD&T proficiency and 2+ years of CNC experience.

The schedule is Monday–Thursday 3:30 pm–2:00 am, with routine preventive maintenance and potential discretionary bonus based on performance. A high school diploma and shop math/blueprint training are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Some trade school or on-the-job training is required to become proficient in most phases of the job.
• Technical training in shop math and blueprint reading is necessary to learn the job.
• 2+ years of experience as a CNC machinist.

Responsibilities

• Work from drawings, sketches and specifications in completing various machining operations.
• Perform machine set ups to obtain close tolerances, fitting and alignment of machined parts.
• Obtain inspections on first pieces and perform inspections on work-in-progress using measuring devices.
• Maintain records of time, part counts, first piece inspections, and requisition forms for each job.
• Make jigs, fixtures or other specialized devices as assigned.
• Perform first piece inspections on basic product for other machinists as assigned.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance of machines according to PM schedule.
• Troubleshoot drawings, machining, tooling, programming, material, etc., and make competent decisions.
