Job summary

Progress Rail Services Corp. is seeking a CNC Machine Operator for the 2nd shift at our Trackwork plant in Alorton, IL. You will machine steel parts and rails, interpret blueprints, and ensure accuracy using calipers and measuring devices.

The role requires attention to detail, reliability, and adherence to safety practices. Expect overtime and potential quarterly production incentives based on goals achieved.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months of manufacturing and/or machine operator experience.
• Ability to multitask; work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to read and write legibly and complete production reports with accuracy.
• Must be able to read and use tape measure.
• Strong attention to detail with ability to inspect rail using measuring devices.
• Must be quality oriented and a team player.
• Must have complete understanding of safe work practices.

Job Purpose:

Operation of a machine in a production shop environment working with steel materials for the production of railroad tracks and crossings.

We have an opening on 2nd shift. CNC Machine Operator pay starts at $22 with a $3 shift differential with a $1.00 INCREASE AT 1 YEAR. Quarterly Incentive Bonus for Production may be available is goals are met.

Key Job Elements:

There is currently a day shift opening for a Machine Operator at our Trackwork manufacturing plant in Alorton, Illinois.

This position will be (M-Th 4pm to 2:30 am. and Fri 2 pm to 9 pm.- Overtime as needed - generally on Fridays approximately 7 hours)

Education / Training:

• HS Diploma or equivalent education and experience required.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Minimum 6 months of manufacturing and/or machine operator experience;

• Must be able to read and write legibly and complete production reports with accuracy;
• Must be able to read and use tape measure;
• Strong attention to detail with ability to inspect rail using measuring devices;

Essential and Physical Activities Functions:

• Strength - Ability to lift up to 35lbs repeatedly;
• Motion - Employee will stand for majority of the shift, will kneel, squat and climb step multiple times throughout the day;
• Vision/Hearing Requirements - Must be able to hear and see parts as they are machined, looking and listening for deficiencies and machinery malfunctions. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and nonverbally;
• Work Environment - The majority of the time will be indoors, in non-temperature-controlled environments. Position is exposed to oils, lubricants and other substances used in the machining process;
• Emotional Demands - Position requires employees to be vigilant to ensure safety of everyone in the area. Requires decisions on the proper operation of machine;
• Safety - Position is a safety sensitive position. Position requires following all safety procedures, policies and PPE requirements such that include hand, head, eye, hand, ear and foot protection.
