Job summary

CBRE is seeking a Building Engineer to monitor, maintain, and repair building systems including mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and life-safety components. You will support preventive maintenance programs and ensure compliance with codes and safety standards.

The role emphasizes energy management, problem solving, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to sustain equipment efficiency and reliability.

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 4–5 years of job-related experience.
• Must meet physical requirements (stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs), ability to lift 50 lbs+.
• Ability to exercise judgment from multiple information sources.
• Baseline proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Experience in shift management or supervisory roles is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repairs on mechanical, plumbing, structural, fire/life-safety, and control systems; keep facilities compliant with standards.
• Ensure compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and safety directives.
• Maintain energy management programs to optimize system efficiency.
• Assist with preventive maintenance programs and perform emergency repairs as needed.
• Follow safety policies for storage and handling of hazardous materials; maintain a clean, safe workplace.
• Review building system inspections (fire alarms, HVAC, plumbing) to ensure operation within design specs.
• Apply standard principles to solve complex tasks and share knowledge with the team.
• Lead by example and support CBRE RISE values; foster consensus and collaboration.
