Job summary

The Building Center, Inc. in Gastonia, NC is seeking a 2nd Shift Truss Builder to manufacture roof and floor trusses and wall panels on the shop floor. You will handle lumber, cut to drawings, set templates, assemble parts, and stack finished goods while adhering to safety standards.

The ideal candidate has a HS diploma or GED, familiarity with shop drawings, and ability to work with various saws and tools in a fast-paced lumber environment. Competitive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent education/experience.
  • Ability to read and implement manufacturing drawings and shop drawings.
  • Familiar with safety and quality standards in a shop environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manufacture roof/floor trusses and wall panels per shop drawings.
  • Handle materials and assemble components to spec.
  • Set jig templates and maintain truss geometry per drawings.
  • Stack and band finished goods per order.
  • Maintain clean shop area and follow safety rules.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Title: Truss Builder

Reports to: Division Manager

FLSA Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt

Division: Gastonia, NC

Summary :

Performs all duties required to manufacture roof/floor trusses and wall panels on the shop floor.

Job Duties & Responsibilities :

  • Responsible for material handling of lumber and truss plates
  • Cuts lumber per shop drawings
  • Sets jig templates and truss geometry per shop drawings
  • Assembles parts to produce trusses per shop drawings
  • Stacks and bands finished goods per order
  • Conforms to all safety requirements while working in the shop
  • Keeps the shop work area clean
  • Performs other duties, as assigned

Qualifications & Requirements :

  • Comfortable using the following equipment: Forklift; Skill saw; Miter saw; Component saw; Linear saw; Tape measure; Hammer; Wrench for jig hardware
  • Knowledge of manufacturing specifications and tolerances
  • Ability to build to manufacturing specifications and tolerances

Education/Experience :

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience.
