Job summary

Colonial Group in Cheshire, CT seeks a Battery Room Technician to replace batteries on MHE and battery-operated tools, maintain and clean reserve batteries, and ensure repairs align with OSHA and company policies for a safe workplace. The role requires a valid driver's license and one year of technical experience.

Responsibilities include safety inspections, major battery repairs, battery checks, proper documentation, and basic soldering/welding.

Qualifications

• One year of technical experience in automotive or industrial equipment.
• Valid Driver's License is REQUIRED.
• Preferred: MHE experience with center riders/long forks/forklifts.
• Own and maintain up-to-date tools of the trade.

Responsibilities

• Replace batteries in MHE equipment, power tools, and hand tools.
• Operate material handling equipment safely with certifications.
• Perform OSHA-aligned safety inspections prior to use.
• Carry out major battery repairs and clean battery racks/trays.
• Maintain quality and damage-free handling throughout shift.
• Check batteries and replace as needed; align with procedures.
• Perform general repairs and maintenance when needed.
• Check parked machines with volt-ohm meter; document results.
• Complete paperwork and inspection forms accurately and timely.
• Perform basic soldering and welding as required.
• Use air-powered equipment when necessary.
• Support cleaning and safe working environment in warehouse.
• Be flexible for evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
