Job summary

JBS Prepared Foods in Ottumwa, IA is seeking a 2nd shift Bacon Quality Assurance Supervisor to lead QA technicians and ensure product quality and safety.

This exempt role partners with operations and USDA to enforce HAACP plans, trains staff, analyzes nonconformances, and drives continuous improvements in our bacon production.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of direct supervisory or management experience.
• Experience in a meat processing facility is highly desired.
• Ability to work in cold/hot environments and weekends as necessary.
• Pork bacon product knowledge.
• Strong communication and mentorship skills.
• HS diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Good attendance record (3 points or less for internal candidates).

Responsibilities

• Work with operations team to ensure that product is produced to specification.
• Work with area superintendent and USDA to ensure that processes comply with plant HAACP plans.
• Train and mentor employees for program compliance.
• Review and monitor customer claims on product quality to continually improve processes.
• Lead root cause analysis for food safety/quality events.
• Conduct team meetings and evaluate group performance.
• Provide individual feedback and create development plans for team members.
• Lead a team of approximately 8–10 QA Techs.
• Ensure plant employees are following GMPs and food safety programs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 1-2 years of direct supervisory or management experience
• Previous e xperience working in a meat processing facility is highly desired
• Ability to work in cold/hot environments and on weekends as necessary
• Pork bacon product specification knowledge
• Ability to work with employees at all levels of the organization
• Strong communication and mentorship skills
• High School degree or equivalent required, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in applicable field preferred
• Good attendance record (3 points or less for internal candidates)
