Job summary

Rust Belt Recruiting in Cleveland, OH seeks a 2nd Shift Machine / Annealing Operator to set up and run heavy-metal processing lines. You will handle materials up to 40 tons with precision, work with a tight-knit crew, and contribute to throughputs, quality, and on-time delivery in a high-volume shop.

This full-time, non-exempt role runs 3:00 PM–1:00 AM. Applicants need 1–3+ years operating heavy equipment, proficiency with micrometers and calipers, and a strong safety mindset.

Qualifications

• 1–3+ years of machine operating experience in steel service center or heavy manufacturing.
• Proven experience operating heavy equipment such as rotary slitters, cold rolling mills, acid pickling lines, or heat treating furnaces.
• Proficiency with precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, tape measures.

Responsibilities

• Setup and operate heavy metal processing machinery within strict safety tolerances.
• Execute precise tool setups for slitter knives, gaps, disks and tensioning devices.
• Load, align, and process steel coils up to 40 tons with proper winding tension.
• Conduct QC inspections for gauge, width, edge, surface, and hardness with micrometers/calipers.
• Exercise stop-work authority to halt lines when material or equipment is non-conforming.
• Maintain daily production records including coil data, speeds, scrap, downtime, and maintenance.
• Collaborate with a 5–7 person crew to keep line running and train new members.
• Enforce PPE and Lockout/Tagout safety protocols.
