Job Summary
Responsible for performing manual and machine operator tasks related to the setup, maintenance, and operations of the press, ensuring both quantitative and qualitative press performance.
Sign-on Bonus
$2,500 - payable as $1,250 at 90 days and $1,250 at 180 days.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Read and understand job tickets, layout sheets, artwork, and specifications before starting a job.
- Check plates for imperfections before mounting.
- Achieve color 'OK' under the guidance of the First Press Operator and sign off on proofs.
- Interpret color bars, star targets, and other indicators to control print quality.
- Maintain color consistency during runs.
- Check sheets for marks and abrasions; pull and label samples.
- Assist in press wash-up and cleaning procedures.
- Help direct press crew tasks and perform routine maintenance.
- Set up and assist with press operations, including blanket changes and ink management.
- Monitor quality and identify flaws.
- Coordinate with team members and communicate effectively about color and quality issues.
- Set up folders and sheeters, inspect blankets, and operate UV Coater if applicable.
- Manage production reports, loads, and proper tagging of loads.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment following all safety procedures.
- Attend regularly and be punctual.
Basic Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Good color perception and mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to follow instructions and perform basic math.
- Knowledge of press operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Ability to interpret safety and operation manuals.
- Effective communication skills.
- Physical ability to walk, stand, and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Flexibility and adaptability.
Physical Requirements
- Use of PPE such as safety glasses and gloves when handling chemicals.
- Standing for long periods.
- Exposure to chemicals during setup and cleaning.
- Temperature conditions are warm year-round.
