Job summary

Flower City Group Inc in Rochester, NY, is seeking a 2nd Press Operator for the A/B shift rotation. You will optimize profitability by ensuring quality, making readies, maintaining equipment, and supervising the press crew.

The role requires at least 3 years of press operation, basic math, and teamwork in a fast-paced production environment. Rotating shifts: A 7:00–3:30 and B 3:30–12:00, with biweekly rotation.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Familiarity with a densitometer and its functions (Density, dot gain, print contrast and hue).
• Pull and hang plates pull job in register.
• Cut coating blanket.
• Check grain direction and quality of sheets.
• Align sheets for size, pagination, bleed and position on HP screen/die vinyl or grain direction (40-inch presses).
• Ensure correct coating is used and assist feeder as needed.
• Monitor both sides of sheet for defects and maintain press quality checks.
• Fill out and place press checklist on last load and review fanned out sheets.

Summary/Objective: It is the responsibility of the 2nd Press Operator to optimize the profitability of the Company by performing to the highest level of efficiency in the following task categories: maintaining constant quality, make readies, maintenance of equipment and the management of their respective press crew. Through these tasks below, the 2nd Press Operator will ensure that the highest level of productivity is consistently achieved.

Schedule Rotates every two weeks

• A Shift: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM
• B Shift: Monday–Friday, 3:30 PM–12:00 AM (Midnight)

Essential Functions:

• Familiarity of a densitometer and its functions. (Density, dot gain, print contrast and hue).
• Pull and hang plates pull job in register.
• Cut coating blanket.
• Checks grain direction.
• Lines up sheet checking for size, straightness, correct pagination, bleed requirements, position of sheet to the HP screen, die vinyl or grain direction. (40-inch Presses)
• Checks to be sure proper coating is used.
• When needed sets up and runs feeder or assists Feeder Tender.
• Watches both sides of sheet for defects (scratches picks water, oil spots, draws, cracks, smashes, missed side guide etc.).
• Make sure the Press checklist is fill out and placed on the last load.
• Review and sign off on all fanned out sheets.

Preferred Education and Experience:

• First Press Operator Certification
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• AAS in a related technical field

Physical Demands:

• Regularly required to talk or hear.
• Regularly required to sit, regular use of hands.
• Frequently required to stand and walk.
• Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and use foot/feet to operate machine.
• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
• The employee must be able to work under pressure with ever changing deadlines and priorities.
