Job summary

ProAmpac in Battle Creek, MI is seeking a skilled and motivated 2nd Press Operator to support high-speed flexographic printing equipment in our packaging manufacturing facility. You will work with the Press Operator to set up, operate, monitor and maintain presses to produce flexible packaging.

The role requires mechanical aptitude, safety focus, and a commitment to quality. Wages start at $30.67 per hour after 120 days, with shift differentials and overtime, and opportunities for career growth

Qualifications

• Experience in printing/packaging/manufacturing or machine operation.
• Familiarity with flexographic printing is a plus.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions and production documents.

Responsibilities

• Assist with press setup and operate printing equipment according to specs and production schedules.
• Prepare inks, cylinders, plates, sleeves and other materials for production.
• Monitor machine performance, troubleshoot issues, and assist with repairs to minimize downtime.
• Ensure production targets, quality standards, and waste reduction goals are achieved.
• Follow Quality System requirements and complete quality checks, including viscosity testing and SPC charts.
• Record raw materials data into AS400 and other production systems.
• Maintain production, inspection, and compliance records.
• Assist with order preparation, machine operation, and changeovers for efficient flow.
• Participate in continuous improvement to enhance safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and follow safety policies.

Job description

ProAmpac in Battle Creek, MI is seeking a skilled and motivated 2nd Press Operator to support the operation of high-speed flexographic printing equipment in our growing packaging manufacturing facility. If you are mechanically inclined, safety focused, and take pride in producing high-quality work, we want to hear fom you.

As a 2nd Press Operator, you will work alongside the Press Operator to set up, operate, monitor and maintain printing presses used to produce flexible packaging products for customers accross a variety of industries.

Essential Duties & Tasks:

• Assist with press set up and operate printing equipment according to job specifications, standard procedures, and production schedules.
• Prepare inks, cylinders, plates and sleeves and other materials required for production.
• Monitor machine performance, troubleshoot operational issues, and assist with repairs and preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.
• Ensure production targets, quality standards, and waste reduction goals are achieved.
• Follow all Quality System requirements and complete required quality checks, including viscosity testing, SPC charts, and production documentation.
• Issue, record, and track raw materials, including data entry into AS400 and other production systems.
• Maintain accurate production, inspection, and compliance records, including hoist, hook, sling, AIB, and environmental documentation.
• Assist with order preparation, machine operation, and changeovers to support efficient production flow.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, quality, productivity, and operational efficiency.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with environmental and company standards.
• Comply with all company safety policies and procedures and support a culture of workplace safety.

Skills and Abilities:

• Previous printing, packaging, manufacturing or machine operation experience.
• Flexographic printing experience is a plus.
• Stong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities.
• Proficient in using rulers, measuring tapes, and other measuring devices to accurately verify dimensions and specifications.
• Demonstrated ability to perform mathematical calculations involving whole numbers, fractions, and decimals, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Knowledge of and ability to apply Statistical Process Control (SPC) techniques to monitor and maintain product quality.
• Ability to read, comprehend, and accurately follow written instructions, work orders, and production documentation.
• Exceptional time management and organization skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously establishing priorities to meet deadlines.
• Receptive to coaching, guidance, and direction from supervisors and management.
• Ability to indentify print defects and maintain quality standards.
• Consistently adheres to established work rules, safety standards, policies, and operating procedures.
• Effective team player with the ability to collaborate and communicate in a team-oriented work environment.

Wage:

• $30.67 per hour after completion of 120 days
• Shift differential for 2nd and 3rd Shift
• Time and half on Saturday, Double Time on Sunday

Shift:

• 1st Shift is 7am - 3pm
• 2nd Shift is 3pm - 11pm
• 3rd Shift is 11pm - 7am
• Candidates must be available for all 3 shifts
• Mandatory Overtime may be required or at your discretion including some weekends
